Passive Solar

These days we build houses to waste resources (specifically fossil fuels) when heating them. But about 700 years ago there were some people living in the Southwest (US) that utilized passive solar.
They built into caves where the walls facing out, received the most sunlight in the winter months.

They have good thermal mass, but about insulation... Probably they didn't figure that out yet.

Khalsa ji,

How far is this place from Espanola. I'd like to visit Mesa Verde sometime.
