The Gurdwara

This is the Gurdwara where the samagam was held in Bakersfield California.

The entry way.
Lights around the fountain in front of the Gurdwara.
I'm not sure why they call it 'Sikh Temple' rather than Gurdwara. It's lit up at night.

They call it sikh temple so people wont mistake it for a muslim placeof worship. I live in Fresno and this valley area is very racist so they were just trying to protect the temple from damage. At least that was what I was told. I tried to make it down but work kept me busy. I hope you enjoyed yourself.

Thanks for that Chris Singh because I was thinking the same why they were calling a Gurdwara a Temple??? I remember when I was small and started school I started calling the Gurdwara a Temple for my non Sikh friends who didn’t know what a Gurdwara was. Soon after that I got enlightened by my dear mother when she gave me a, what we call a TAPPER aka Punjabi slap. Never called the Gurdwara a Temple again, until now hope she’s not reading this.
