Irises everywhere

I know of a place in the mountains about 45 minutes drive from my house where wild irises grow. They don't usually flower until July though. In these mountains, which are in Colorado, the irises were everywhere. Their leaves and the flowers themselves are much thinner than the variety you find in people's gardens.

Pardon me for sounding ignorant, but I was under the impression NM was mostly desert. Looking through the rest of your photos that's obviously not the case. Those are some beautiful scenery. Wow.

It might be safe to say that New Mexico is mostly desert. New Mexico is the fifth largest state in the US and is bigger than a lot of countries. There are thousands of acres of forest land, but there are probably still thousands more acres of desert. Where I live (EspaƱola) I can drive about half an hour in any direction and be in the mountains and surrounded by trees and grass and flowers. I find the high desert to be very beautiful and I also enjoy the mountains.

I wish I could some time in life visit this place. Every thing - The River , The trees and The flowers... remind me of The creator.
