Sikh Española Volunteer Association (S.E.V.A.)

A few months ago a group of (Sikh) freinds were discussing the idea of serving langar to the larger Española community. It was an idea to serve food and to raise awareness about who we are. We started a group which we named SEVA, the Sikh Española Volunteer Association. We started to meet once a week to discuss what we want to do. We decided that we'd like to organize some kind of seva opportunity at least once a month and we decided that it would be great to try and host an event once a year. We are still formulating our ideas on a Sikh awareness day, but we have formulated ideas and completed several smaller projects already.
We wanted to be action oriented and we didn't want to get bogged down with too many divergent interests and ideas, so we have a small board of 6 members. This board meets to discuss opportunities for seva and plans for seva. Once we have a plan we invite the rest of the Sikh community to join us in our efforts. This weekend we did our first langar program, which you can see pictures of and read about at the SEVA blog:
